Annie Adams has undertaken work for DFID, helping it to investigate the performance of UK timber traders.

“Annie was part of a small team that the Tropical Forest Trust contracted to investigate the performance of UK timber traders against the UK Timber Trade Federation Code of Conduct. She and her colleague had to determine whether the traders had knowingly purchased illegal timber from China. They did the job very well considering the issues were sensitive; they illustrated tact and judgement, investigation skills, a thorough knowledge of the business and in particular how timber is traded. The results and recommendations of the investigation helped us to tighten up the Code of Conduct, provide better buying advice to members and, were sensible and largely taken up. We very much appreciated the way it was done and the final outcome, plus one of the consequences of this work was UK TTF making the Responsible Purchasing Policy compulsory.”

Andy Roby - Senior Forestry Adviser, DFID

Annie Adams has undertaken work for Kingfisher PLC, helping it to be a more sustainable company.

"Over the last decade Annie has supported Kingfisher’s Sustainability team and its priority to responsibly source wood and paper from well-managed forests, working at Efeca as technical lead and also through her private consultancy. She has delivered a number of successful projects, including technical revisions to our EU Timber Regulation Due Diligence System, annual verifications of our wood product data and updates to the Group about forest certification schemes, and I have always found Annie to excel at applying her detailed technical knowledge to provide the required outputs. Annie has shown she is adept at communicating with diverse teams across the Kingfisher Group, building internal capacity and maximising engagement, and always works in a flexible manner, responding to the Group’s needs. I hope to work with Annie for a long time to come and can highly recommend her."

She was very professional and approachable in her manner, and was able to tailor her contribution to meet the needs of staff from a variety of different backgrounds. In total, Annie trained approximately 180 members of staff, providing background information on global timber supply chains, legality and sustainability sourcing considerations, the UK Government’s timber procurement policy and practical implementation of chain-of-custody.
